Read Across America Week at JES 2019

Read Across Johnston Elementary!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We will be joining the nationwide celebration of Read Across America, the week of Dr. Seuss’s Birthday- February 25th-March 1st, 2019.

Monday-Friday

Sharing the Love of Reading

We will have guest readers from our community visiting our classes to read with our students. Visitors will be share Dr. Seuss books along with other great titles to each class in all grade levels.

Tuesday

Book Character Day

Staff and students will dress like their favorite book character for the entire day! If possible, please have your child bring a copy of the book that matches their character to school on this day. Students may not have facemasks, face coverings, including face paint.

Friday

Breakfast Treat

The cafeteria will be serving green eggs and ham to celebrate the birthday of author, Dr. Seuss. We hope all Mighty Bears will enjoy this delicious treat in the cafeteria.

Check out our JES Facebook and webpage for photos that will highlight our school wide events.

Next time you visit JES, stop by the bookcase in our lobby.  Those are free books through the POP Project, that all students and families may take.  This will allow students to increase their home library. Enjoy reading books with your child each day.
