“I believe all students can succeed if provided a quality education and the support needed in their journey. Several people did just that for me, and I am grateful every day.” – Anna Austin, Johnston Principal

Born in Puerto Rico and raised in east Tennessee, Ms. Austin received her undergraduate degree from Mars Hill College, and her Master’s Degree from Western North Carolina University. She began her teaching career in elementary education at a school on a small island in the middle of the French Broad River. Ms. Austin taught at the elementary level for eight years before working in the area of advocacy and drop-out prevention. These experiences led her to serve as the Career Academy Advocate where she worked with high school students. She joins us from Erwin High School, where she most recently served as an assistant principal.
