Welcome to Art with Mr. B

It is a pleasure to serve JES students as their Art Teacher. I like to focus on building confidence and celebrating differences through the arts while staying optimistic and being okay with making a few happy accidents as we learn about the world and explore our creativity.
My home has always been the mountains. I was born in an ancestral community in the Andes mountains region of Ecuador to a family of basket weavers and agriculturists. Now, it is humbling to be able to call the Appalachian mountains my home.
I am a K-12th certified bilingual Visual Arts Educator. I am a graduate from Western Carolina University. There, I received a M.A.T in Comprehensive Education, B.F.A. in Studio Art, and B.A. in Spanish. Additionally, my greatest educator has been my indigenous grandmother who raised me to be the runa that I am today.
I have served as a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant and Interim Spanish Teacher in the Erwin-Enka district. I am super excited to be able continue to serve my community in the mountains.
