Erwin cheerleaders perform at center court before the girls basketball game

Students, teachers, and families gathered to celebrate Warriors on the court and in the classroom Friday night at Erwin High School.

Between the girls and boys varsity basketball games, the 2025-26 and 2026-27 Teachers of the Year were honored from all Erwin Schools - Emma Elementary, Johnston Elementary, Leicester Elementary, West Buncombe Elementary, Woodfin Elementary, Eblen Intermediate, Erwin Middle School, and Erwin High School.

“Just like our athletes, these educators show up every day with preparation, heart and commitment,” said Stefanie Buckner Hill, assistant principal at Erwin High School who helped organize the event. “We are so grateful for these teachers leading, inspiring, and sharing our students and our community.”

Erwin High School’s FCCLA prepared and served sweet and savory treats to the teachers honored at the event.

Fans seated in the bleachers hold up signs to celebrate Tesia Hines' 1000th point.The celebration included a chance to see both teams of Warriors win their games with Asheville High, and witness senior Tesia Hines score the 1,000th point of her high school career.
